Over the past couple of years we have seen some exciting new trends come out of Asia, with the region now being perceived as one of the main drivers of beauty and cosmetic innovation. We recently visited Cosmoprof Asia 2016, Hong Kong and beauty shopping district Seoul, South Korea to explore the latest hot new beauty trends. Here’s some of our highlights:
Facial mists – Retailers in Korea held a large range of skus with some great ingredient stories, such as green tea, honey, tomato, avocado, cucumber and lettuce. Face mists instantly cool, refresh and hydrate the skin, making them ideal for hot days, humid nights, sunbathing, fixing make-up and sports. They are also perfect for busy lifestyles to refresh and moisturise the skin on the go and ideal for the office to combat air conditioning. In South Korea they are used as part of the daily skincare routine. Speak to us about face mists in either aerosol or a pump format.
Foaming Mousse Cleansers – Continuing from the face mist concept, foaming mousse cleansers form a fresh, light foam to remove make up and leave skin feeling clean and hydrated.
Face Masks – The face mask category is certainly growing, with most people in Asia using a mask as part of their regular beauty routine. We saw face masks for all different ages (including children) which also targeted different parts of the body, such as face, feet, hair and legs. Popular ingredient stories included honey, charcoal and mint, whilst packaging design was creative and aspirational.
Cartoon packaging design – From cute animals and emojis to cakes and fruit, this fun componentry trend is only set to grow in popularity! These designs are great for lip balms and hand creams and perfect for adults or children. Cosmetic packaging is becoming increasingly important in the marketplace – not only adding a USP to stand out on-shelf but also multi-functionality and enhancing the sensory experience or product texture during application.
We’ll be at Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2017 in hall 30 stand B36-C35E.
